5 Top Tips for Dressing for a Stylish City Break

9/18/2018

Hello lovely people! By now you’ve probably realized that I have a little soft spot for fashion, but what you might not realize is that I also love to spend my free time traveling around the world and exploring new places. I love to uncover hidden destinations and expand my horizons, and I just love getting my suitcase ready for a brand new adventure. After all, there’s nothing better than planning your stylish outfits and getting them ready for a night on the town in Paris, Barcelona or Milan. If you’re currently getting ready to pack your suitcase, check out these five top tips for dressing for a stylish city break...

Try to choose comfort and style
I always ensure I look as stylish and as fashionable as possible when I go on vacation, but when you’re walking around busy cities and wandering through cobbled streets, you often need to add a little comfort into the mix. Because of this, it’s important to maintain comfort and style while dressing for a stylish city break — because practicality is key! Loose-fitting pants and floaty dresses are the easiest way to look your best as you explore a brand new city, because they give you the space to move and breathe while still being effortlessly chic.

Use accessories to your advantage
No stylish outfit is complete without a few accessories, and your city break adventure is the best way to use these accessories to your advantage. As you walk around this new destination, you can team up your already-stylish outfit with a fashionable purse that will serve as a source of intrigue and add practicality throughout the day. You can stash your camera, your water, and even the little trinkets you pick up at the markets in this purse, and it also looks super cool. Lovely solid silver jewellery is a great addition as well.  Of course, I also probably don’t need to tell you that sunglasses are always required when on a city break. There’s no question about that.

Always layer-up
When visiting a new country or city, you’re entering unknown territory. You have no idea what the weather is going to be like, and you have no clue whether it’s going to be rain or shine. Because of this, it’s better to dress in light layers you can pull on and off throughout the day. Knowing how to layer your outfits is one of the best ways to add style and substance to your daily routine, and it’s also one of the best ways to take your outfit from day to evening. Wearing a dress and sweater combo as you wander around the local bazaars? Remove the sweater as the sun sets to add an air of sophistication to your outfit.

Choose the right shoes
Many people forget that shoes have such a big impact on your outfit, but they also forget they have a huge impact on your city break. Choosing uncomfortable shoes could cut short your sightseeing adventures and even turn a fun experience into one full of blisters and pain. So, you always need to make sure that you choose the right shoes that do not rub but also look pretty fabulous. From my own experience, I’ve found that sandals, sneakers and ankle boots are the best option when wandering the tranquil streets because you can walk around for hours without a squeak.

Don’t hold back
If you have limited space in your suitcase, it can be easy to dial down your style when packing for your city break. You choose practicality over fashion, and most of the time you reopen your suitcase and struggle to put an outfit together. That’s because you need to strike the perfect balance between fashion and practicality when packing. The first rule of packing? Don’t hold back. Don’t think too hard about where you’re going or the “vacation” clothes that have been in your closet since last year. Simply think about the pieces that you love the most in your closet, and go from there.
