How to be more positive in life

How to be more positive in life - something that comes naturally to some people, and others have to work really hard to get there. Achieving this state of mind is sometimes not easy, but I truly believe it's so important to try to be more positive and that's why I decided to write this post.

I see so many negative people today - complaining all the time, being petty, trying to bring other people down, being mean to others... I see so much negativity and jealousy on social media, and even though I am generally a positive person who always looks on the bright side of life, all the negativity even brings me down sometimes. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, there are some things I like to do to help me during that time. I also want to let everyone know that it's okay if this happens to you as well - you are not alone.

I also see so much people dealing with anxiety and depression nowadays - I am so sad every time I read about how someone feels depressed on Twitter or anywhere else, and I wish I could help them somehow. There are probably many reasons why so many people experience anxiety in this day and age, but I'm not an expert so I'm not going to get into this. However, I can say that all the bullying, jealousy and negativity on social media definitely doesn't help. Trust me, there are always so many better ways to deal with anxiety and negativity than bullying other people out of your own frustration.

I decided to write a post about how to be more positive in life because I have learned many ways throughout the years that have helped me become a positive person I am today. If this post gives some hope/ideas/inspiration to even one person and makes that person feel a bit better, my goal is accomplished.

1. Exercise

Exercise is something a lot of people hate, or they find it annoying and boring. It's true - exercising requires you to put some effort into your lifestyle, but it doesn't have to be boring or tedious. Find the type of exercise that will make you happy and excited. It doesn't have to be going to the gym; maybe you can find your perfect exercise in dancing, yoga, pilates, running... There are numerous options. It's all about finding the right fit for you. I have definitely noticed that I feel a lot better, healthier and happier when I exercise regularly. Personally I really love yoga and dancing. I have found that this combination works best for me out of all the activities I have tried over the years.

Since yoga is very deep and serene type of exercise, it's crucial to find an instructor that will make you feel comfortable and who can guide you properly. If you are doing yoga at home, there are plenty of yoga-themed YouTube channels, but my fave is Yoga With Adriene. She is seriously the cutest, and such an expert at yoga! ☺️

2. Tranquillity on, world off

We live at a time when stress is everywhere. It's really sad, but there is actually no way to escape it. If you live in a city, have a full time job, family, friends and other things that most people deal with every day, you are bound to get stressed or anxious sometimes. In spite of that, there are ways how you can cope with stress, and hopefully learn to control it over time. It's so important to take some time for yourself, no matter how busy you are. You can always take at least 10 minutes off, and relax. I spend a big portion of my day on my computer or on my phone. I'm constantly looking at various screens, which is not ideal, but both my job and my hobby require this. I have recently learned how important it is to just log off sometimes. Just log out of everything, read a good book, take a walk in the nature, take a nap, hang out with your friends.... Basically anything that doesn't require you to look at any gadget. Trust me, it's really good for mental health. I call it digital detox.

Meditation is something I tried for the first time last year, and I have to say I finally understand why so many people love it and find comfort in it. At first I didn't even know how to meditate or what that exactly means, but then it occurred to me - tutorials! There are tutorials for everything nowadays, meditation included. There are even apps you can download that will guide you through meditation. Calm is an excellent one. I know I said to take time off your gadgets, but this is an exception because you're not actually looking at the screen - you will just listen to the voice guiding your through meditation and it's amazing.

In addition to that, I have been hearing a lot about CBD oil as well and how it can help your anxiety and calm you down. I would recommend reading more about it, like for example how many drops of CBD oil under tongue is a good dose in order to get the desired effect. There are many ways to consume CBD oil, for example, many people enjoy eating gummies containing CBD. Websites like https://cfah.org/best-thc-gummies/ and many more review the best products in the business, so you know that they will successfully help your anxiety.

3. Say no to "Serenity Now"

All my fellow Seinfeld fans will immediately understand this! 😂 If by any chance you don't know what I'm talking about, here's an explanation... In one of the epic Seinfeld episodes George's dad got a tape from someone that he was supposed to listen to and the tape would help him be calmer because he had some major anger issues. So basically they said on that tape that every time he gets angry he should just say "Serenity now" and move on. However, George's dad gets angry all the time, so every time he was screaming "Serenity now!" at everyone instead of saying it quietly to himself. LOL! You have to watch this episode if you haven't... 😁

The reason why I'm mentioning this is that I always thought that was such a bad idea. The only thing he was doing with this technique was bottling up all the anger inside until one day he exploded. I don't think it's healthy to be in denial of your emotions, and just keep everything to yourself - most of the time we feel better if we talk about our problems to our friends or family.

4. Listen to the Law of Attraction

This could be a topic for a whole post on its own, but I will try to talk about it now as shortly as possible. I have known about Law of Attraction for a few years but I didn't really know what it meant until maybe a year and a half or two years ago. That was the time I finally decided to read "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne and it was like a revelation to me. It's difficult to even put it into words - I felt like someone was finally explaining life to me. I know it sounds ridiculous but that's how I felt. Everything started to make sense. I was just asking myself: "Why hasn't anyone told me this before?!". It's so logical, but at the same time no one tells us these things. I think this book came to me when I needed it the most, and after reading it, I decided to try to actually live my life like that. By the way, this is a very long and difficult process.

If you don't know anything about the Law of Attraction, let me tell you what it's about. Basically it's a belief that you can manifest anything you want into your life by always staying positive, thinking about your goals, planning them, and generally just sending positive thoughts into the universe. No complaining, no whining, no negativity, no jealousy, etc. This doesn't happen overnight and you literally have to learn how to think in a totally different way which takes a lot of time and effort. I am still working on it, and there are periods of time when I forget about it. One of my resolutions for this year is to really get back to it, and start living this every single day and attract the things I want into my life. I believe it works 100%.

5. Surround yourself with "Feel-Good" things

Have a movie that you've seen a million times, but it makes you feel good every time you see it? Or a song that immediately puts you in good mood? Whatever it may be, we all have some things that put us in a positive state of mind. My recipe is: whenever you are feeling down surround yourself with feel-good things! This is something that always works for me. It sounds so simple but many people don't remember to do this when they feel stressed.

Guys, I really hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you think, and what are some of your favorite ways to deal with anxiety and staying positive.

Stay fabulous!
xoxo Sienna
